About

I have taught math and computer science for many years, ten of which were in rural Colorado. In one district, I was the only math teacher for both middle school and high school. I taught seven different courses every day ranging from basic arithmetic to college calculus and statistics and everything in between. This is not uncommon for small, rural schools across America. These types of schools require a lot from their teachers, not just to have resources and knowledge, but also to be able to offer opportunities to their students, no matter their grade, course, or situation.

I am developing this website with its videos, practice problems, worksheets, links, and more, out of a need that I have seen in rural schools, but also in situations where students and teachers have extra need, especially due to the COVID pandemic which, in many ways, has toppled education onto its head. The last year has pulled many teachers out of their comfort zones and required them not only to think outside the box, but, quite frankly, to throw the box away entirely. It's not an easy job.

I have a few goals for this website. The first is a platform to organize my math videos in a meaningful and helpful way. The second is to give students anywhere in any situation an opportunity to learn and to practice their math skills on their terms. The third is to offer resources to teachers, especially those in rural districts who may teach five or more different classes every day. The struggle is real.

I would like to be able to keep this resource free of monthly or annual membership charges and offer it with no exchange of personal information, which means no login. Everything is free and available for you to use in your classroom on your terms. I know as a teacher I didn't always have textbooks or resources at my disposal, thus the real need to either find or create them myself. Obviously, the development process and maintaining the hardware and software isn't free, so I'm hoping people will support this effort financially as they are able and based on the helpfulness of the site (this information will come later). After all, I'm a teacher, too. :-)
